Severe Duty Guidelines

If the vehicle is operated under "severe conditions," service
procedures should be conducted more frequently than specified in
the "Periodic Maintenance Checklist." The frequency of service under
severe conditions is determined by the use of the vehicle. The
owner/operator must evaluate the operating environment to
determine the increase in maintenance frequency.
In addition, the whole vehicle should be inspected monthly for
signs of damage. Any damage must be repaired immediately.
The following list is meant as a guide and is not an all-inclusive
list of "severe duty" applications:
Extreme temperature.
Bumpy, dusty, or ill maintained roads.
Excessively wet areas.
Corrosive or contaminated areas.
Frequent loading of vehicle at/near capacity.
Use on multiple shifts.
