Via Ethernet Crossover connection
Connect an Ethernet Crossover cable to the Smart 16 IP and to the computer
back-to-back, the Smart 16 IP is configured to 192.168.1.22, configure your
computer to use a static IP in that range - for example 192.168.1.10. Open your
browser and type 192.168.1.22. Configure the device via the WEB interface.
Via the IP Device Setup utility
The IP Device Setup utility is located on the supplied CD under Customer
Support/Utilities. The utility locates Smart 16 IP devices on the network and
configures them to use a static IP / DHCP / or Bootp configuration. You can also
configure a new password for the IP device. All other configurations must be
done via the Serial / Web interface methods.
1. Click the IP Device Setup, Figure 4 appears. Run the utility to scan the
network segment your computer is connected to. If a Smart 16 IP is located in the
same network segment, its MAC address appears in Device MAC address field.
2. Select the MAC address of the unit you want to configure and press the Query
Device button. The current network settings of the Smart 16 IP appear in the
Network Configuration section.
3. In the Authentication section type the Super user login / password. Default is
super / smart
4. In Network Configuration section input the new IP address.
5. Press the Setup Device button. The new setting is assigned. The utility remains
open. You can for example assign a new Super user password in the
Authentication section.
Or press OK. The new setting is assigned and the utility closes.
