Power Management Turning Your Mailing System ON/OFF The ON/OFF switch is located at the rear of the right ON/OFF Switch hand side of the Mailing System Base. ON/OFF Turns the Mailing System ON or OFF. Always use the ON/OFF switch to switch off the system. Never unplug the power cord.
How to turn your Mailing System ON/OFF Press either side of the switch to turn the Mailing System ON or OFF. - The dash (or I) indicates ON. - The circle (or O) indicates OFF. After switching your system OFF, there may be a delay of up to 20 seconds to move the print head into the OFF position and free any remaining voltage in the system.

Preparing and Starting Your Job Recommended Mail Processing Steps This section recommends a list of mail preparation step to help you process your mail more efficiently. As mail requirements differ from day to day, some of the settings may not be necessary, or the order may vary.

Turning On Your System and Starting a Job Run To locate an Account quickly, type the Account Number or Name (tap column headers to switch between number and name) or use a Barcode Scanner. To type letters instead of figures using the keypad, press the corresponding key several times in a row like a cell phone.

Changing the Current Account To assign postage costs of a completed job run to an Account(s), complete the set up instructions listed below before processing your mail. This only applies if you track account/department usage and the Account mode is activated (see Managing Accounts and Assigning Rights on page 103 ).
Resetting Batch Counters Batch Counters allow you to track and report on the number of items processed and the amount of postage used since the last counter reset. To produce reports associated to your Batch Counters, see Batch Report on page 147 How to reset Batch Counters To reset a Batch Counter: Tap the Reset counter Zone on the Home Screen.
Using the Sealing Function The Mixed Mail Feeder includes a Sealer that can automatically seal envelopes of mixed sizes while processing mail. If activated, the Sealer can work in two modes: • Sealing nested (open) flaps only . It will not seal flaps that are closed flat. In this mode you can mix sealed envelopes along with nested envelopes that require sealing.

Processing Mail Using the Dynamic Weighing Module The iWeigh Dynamic Weighing Module uses a four-point detection system to weigh and rate mail. It measures the length, width, thickness and weight to properly determine the mailing format within the mail class (that is to say letter vs. flat) and rate the mail pieces. Two modes are available when using the Dynamic Weighing Module: •...
Press to start. The system weighs the first mail piece and asks you to confirm the postage amount before applying it to the mail pieces remaining in the stack. Press [OK] to confirm. The system will now feed (seal), and print the entire stack of mail without weighing the remainder of the batch.

Remove the envelope from the Weighing Platform. Place an envelope (or stack) in the hopper. Your items should be placed against the rear wall and covering the optical (clear) sensor. The Mailing System applies postage and the envelopes are sent to the mail tray or stacker.
Processing Mail Using Differential Weighing Differential Weighing offers faster and more efficient mail processing when using an external Weighing Platform (WP). In this mode, you can place a stack or container of mail on the Weighing Platform The weight is then calculated as each mail piece is removed from the Weighing Platform (by calculating the differential from the amount on the Weighing Platform less the weight removed).

In this mode, the weight is measured using a non-interfaced Weighing Device. Once the weight of your item(s) is determined you enter the weight value manually into your Mailing System (see How to enter the Weight Manually on page 80 ). The Weighing Mode icon on the screen indicates the selected method and thus the source that provides the weight of the mail piece to the System.

Advancing the Date The Date Advance function allows you to print a future Date on your mail pieces. You can set the Date Advance feature (in Supervisor Mode) to change at a specific time. This is useful if you process mail after the last mail pickup for the day.

From the Date Advance Screen, you can now configure the date to be printed as follows: - To choose another Day, select the corresponding item from the list. icon indicates the current selection. Press [OK] to apply your changes and to return to the Configuration Menu. The date can be advanced up to 30 days from today's date.
Using Impression Memories Impression Memories allow you to create a preset Meter Impression that can include the Postage Rate, a Slogan and the Date Mode allowing you to recall common jobs from the memory of your Mailing System. In Account-activated configurations, Impression Memories allow you to assign your postage costs to pre-selected Accounts.
Press OK to validate your selection. The Impression Memory Zone (Mem) on the Home Screen displays the active Impression Memory. Using the Mixed Mail Feeder The instructions below provide details on how to place a stack of mail in the Feeder. Depending on the Weighing Method you choose to run your mail, you may have to insert your envelopes one by one or place a stack of envelopes in the Feeder.

Place your envelopes in the hopper against the rear wall and covering the optical (clear) sensor. Be sure that all envelopes in the stack are against the rear wall. Ensure that all envelopes are stacked along the rear guide, from the largest to the smallest.
Change the Lever position: - left : for normal or thin ones - right : for thick ones. Close the Feeder cover. Return the lever to the normal position (left) after processing a batch of thicker mail. This will prevent normal mail from double or multi-feeding.

Filling the Automatic Label Dispenser The Automatic Label Dispenser allows you to print postage on precut Labels. You can put up to 50 Labels in the Automatic Label Dispenser. When Labels are not being used, we recommend that they be stored flat in the Catch Tray or Hopper Label Receptacle.

Managing Your Postage Funds Checking Your Postage Funds You can check the total amount of postage that has been used and the available postage funds remaining in your Mailing System at any time. To ensure that funds are available to complete your current job run, your remaining funds are continuously displayed at the bottom of the Home Screen (see Control Panel Features on page 20).

Guidelines for Settting up an Account Activating No Account Activating the No Account Mode provides any User with unlimited access to all Mailing System functions. No Account Mode is the default mode of your Mailing System. Activating No Account • To activate/ deactivate your Account Modes, please see How to display and Change the Account Mode on page 114 and select No Account Mode.
Activating No Account with Access Control If you want to prevent unauthorized use of your Mailing System, but you do not want to use Accounts, activate the No Account with Access Control function. This Mode requires all Users to log into the system by entering a 4 digit security PIN Code at start up. In this mode a single PIN Code is created for all authorized Users.
Setting up Accounts In Accounts Mode, Users must select an Account to allocate the postage costs to before they can process their mail. The User can change the active Accounts at any time during mail processing. If only one Account has been set up, the Mailing System will automatically select it at start up.
How to select 'Accounts' Mode From the Account Mode Management Menu (see ): Select the path: Account Mode Selection (or type 5 ). Budget and Surcharge Preferences Before you can apply Budgets and Surcharges to an Account you first have to set up the Global Preferences for both functions. Budget and Surcharge functions are only available if the Advanced Reporting option has been loaded onto your Mailing System. Global Preferences An Account Budget is the postage amount that can be charged to a selected Account in a given period of time.
Surcharge Preferences Surcharge Preferences are set for each Account individually. Preference Range Description Fixed Rate 0.01 to 99 An additional charge that you can allocate to an Ac- count for each job run. The Fixed Rate Surcharge is set a fixed dollar amount that is applied to an Account at the end of each job run.

Uploading Statistics Uploading Statistics can be an automated call or a manual call that uploads system data to the E-Services Server so that you can generate reports that include the most up-to-date usage figures. You can then view this data online and run reports. Manual uploads can be initiated on demand as needed.

8.14 Inserter Mode A Neopost Folder/Inserter can be connected to your Mailing System if required. If you have the electronic connection option, the Inserter controls the Mailing System. This electronic connection uses an RS232 cable between the Inserter and the Base of the Mailing System to communicate.

For optimum sealing results, using Sure Seal is recommended, but is not mandatory. If the system runs out of sealing fluid during a job run the system will continue to process your items but your envelopes may not be sealed properly.
