Customizing Motion Detection with Masking

Masking an Area of the Video Feed

Masking Part of a Video Feed from Motion Detection

By default, motion is detected everywhere in a video feed. Some of that movement may not
be of any interest, such as a roadway in a window, or a door that many people walk by.
Areas of no concern can be masked—that is, they are hidden from motion detection—so
that they do not trigger an alarm.

door is opened, saving a unit operator from having to search through video.
Red Mask and Green Mask
In motion detection, when the mask is red, movement behind a mask is ignored.
The masking behaves opposite to that of motion search. In motion search, the parts that
are masked in green act as motion triggers rather than as a mask.
