Simplex Configuration
Prior to beginning the cabling, identify the configuration for your installation.
Note the card locations, then install your cards and connect the cabling based on
the diagrams and procedures.
Single-Ended Ultra Wide SCSI
Single host and one subsystem
This configuration provides an Ultra Wide SCSI solution using a single dual-bus
CR8e subsystem connected to a single host computer with a standard Ultra Wide
SCSI host adapter. From this configuration an array can be created using up to eight
(8) disk drives. Additional CR8e's can be added to this configuration by referring to
the Duplex (Dual-Active) schemes under Single-ended Ultra Wide SCSI mode.

(Terminate card removing jumper at JP1)
1
Verify that the jumper at location JP1 on the S2S Interface card is removed.
This will terminate the SCSI bus.
2
Connect one end of a 3 meter data cable to the host bus adapter (HBA) and
the other end to the "IN" port on the CR8e subsystem S2S Interface card.
Secure the cable connectors using the thumb screws.
3
Turn on the power to the CR8e. After the power-on self-test has successfully
completed, the Status and Channel Mode LEDs will be solid green.
Set the SCSI IDs. The IDs are configured via the Operator Control Panel
4
using a predefined set. Access the Options menu and select "SAFTE CHAIN
ID" then choose "None."
5
After setting the subsystem identification you must power cycle the subsystem.
Observe normal power cycling precautions by waiting a minimum of five (5)
seconds before applying power again.
