This chapter describes the general setup of the modem in a Digital Satellite Terminal
(DST) using the front panel keys. Detail operation of the modem is the same as specified
in Chapters 1 through 16 of this manual.

Initial Operation

Prior to Turning On Power

Note: Ensure DST system is installed properly and all connections all secure, except the
L-Band TX and RX IF connectors which are initially disconnected.

Careful setup is necessary to prevent damage to electronic components.
Replacement of a component(s) may be the result.
DC voltages for BUC or LNB power may be present at the modem transmit
and receive IF connectors. Protect spectrum analyzers and other equipment
sensitive to DC voltage with a DC block, such as Weinschel Model 7003, to
prevent accidental damage.
Selection / Programming
Make sure prime power to the Modem is removed.
Verify the IFL L-Band cables are not connected to the
modem.
