Notes
You can also use a bed receptacle provided by Hill-Rom or
Stryker.
Avoid plugging both a smart bed and a smart Pillow Speaker
into the same patient station. Some smart beds interfere with
smart pillow speakers, with the result that both devices stop
functioning. To be safe, use a standard Smart Pillow Speaker
with a smart bed.

Connecting call cords and auxiliary medical devices

Patient stations that set to Prompt for status mode during
installation accept either for call cords or for auxiliary medical
equipment. The choice of one device type or the other must be
made at the time the device is connected to the patient station.
To set the jack to accept call cords:
1.
Insert the plug into the jack. Both the EQUIP and CANCEL
indicator lights flash on and off at half-second intervals.
2.
Without placing any calls, wait 6 seconds until the indicator
lights stop flashing and return to normal. This sets the jack to
accept the call cord.
To set the jack to accept auxiliary medical equipment:
1.
Insert the plug into the jack. Both the EQUIP and CANCEL
indicator lights flash on and off at half-second intervals.
2.
Immediately press the Cancel button. The EQUIP indicator stops
flashing and glows steadily. The CANCEL light goes off.
Note:
Plug in only one device at a time when connecting more than
one device. The second device cannot be configured until the
indicator lights for the first device have normalized.
Removing the device from the jack simulates device failure
and places a call
Re-inserting it restarts the flash cycle
Removal of pull cords at patient stations
Any cord removal (a Smart Pillow Speaker, bed, auxiliary, or call
cord) from the patient station causes the following to happen:
The Cancel and Call lights on the patient station start flashing (if
the cord that was removed was for an auxiliary device, the
Cancel and Equip lights flash).
If the cord remains out of the receptacle for more than 5
seconds:
The Cancel light extinguishes, and the Call (or Equip) light glows
steadily.
