When faxing is not performed correctly

Faxes cannot be sent

Symptom
The document cannot be
scanned.
The document was
scanned at an angle.
The fax received by the
recipient is not clear.
The fax received by the
recipient is blank.
Faxes cannot be sent au-
tomatically.

Possible cause
Is the document too thick?
Is the document tool thin or too
small?
Is the original glass dirty?
Were the document guides cor-
rectly adjusted to the width of
the document?
Is the document incorrectly po-
sitioned?
Is the original glass dirty?
Is the text in the document too
faint?
Is there a problem with the tele-
phone connection or with the re-
cipient's fax machine?
The document was sent with the
front side facing down (when us-
ing the document feeder).
Was the fax number incorrect?
Is a number specifically for tele-
phone calls being dialed?
Is there a problem with the re-
cipient's fax machine (it is out of
paper, it is not set to receive fax-
es automatically, it is turned off,
etc.)?

Position the document on the
