Basic Recording
Choose a program.
Press CH +1- or the number keys to select the channel

I_lset the recording speed.
• Turn on the unit.
• lurn on the FV and select the AV mode.
• Slide the TV/CABLE/DBS/DVD switch to DVD.
ATTENTION:
It is not possible to record programs on a DVD-R (]is< whi<h
has al ready been finalized.

Press REC MODE repeatedly until the desired recording
speed appears.
• Each time you press REC MODE, the recording speed changes
as follows:
XP -+ SP -+ LP -'_ EP -+ FR60 FR360*, FR420, FR480 -+
(Back to the beginning)
* The value is selectable tl()m 1 to 6 houIs in 5-min. inclement by
pressing < _ lepeated/y aftel selecting "FR60 FR360". 7b change

Lqstart recording.
Press and hold S, then press I_ ol3 the Remote, or press

_ Pauserecording.
Press II.
• To resume recording, press I_.
_J Stoprecording.
Press II.
It takes about 10 seconds to end the writing session when
you stop recording.
NOTES:
• It is recommended to format a DVD-RAM disc before use if
you use the disc on this unit for the first time.
• When using a brand-new DVD-RW disc, format the disc either
in VR mode or in Video mode. (_-_ pg. 101, "Format a
DVD-RW disc")
• You can record up to 99 programs and 999 play lists on each
disc.
• Some programs can only be recorded one time.
• When recording is started, an index of the first part of
recording is automatically recorded (_-€_pg. 72, "Library
Database DVD Navi'). |b record a satellite programs, refer to
page 71. lb delete the index, refer to page 77.
• Recording sometimes may stop or cannot be performed even if
there is enough available capacity remaining on the disc.
Recording R esumeFunction
If there is a power outage during recording, Instant Timer
Recording (ITR) (_:_ pg. 58) or timer recording (_:_ pg. 60,
64), the recording will resume automatically when power is
restored to the unit unless the unit's memory backup has
expired.
Loada disc.
[] Press A to open the disc tray.
[] Place a recordable disc on the disc tray.
