Finalize a disc

Finalizing DVD-R/RW discs recorded on this unit makes it
possible for the discs to be played back on other DVD players.
DVD-RW discs are finalized in the mode that the discs were
formatted, enabling playback on compatible DVD [)layers.
Titles input in the Library Database DVD Navi are registered as
titles in the DVD menu. (L_" pg. 36, 76)
• Turn on the unit.
• Turn on the TV and select the AV mode.
• Slide the TV/CABLE/DBS/DVD switch to DVD.
• Load a DVD-R/RW disc to finalize.
Before finalizing
• It is possible to re_ord on a blank spa(e.
• [t is possible to enter a program title. (L_" pg. 76, "Modify
Program Name")
• It is possible to delete programs. (_-_" pg. 77, "Delete
program")
• It is impossible to overwrite recorded areas of DVD-R discs.
• Available recording capacity does not increase even if a
recorded program is delete(] from a DVD-R disc.
• [t is impossible to record or edit DVD-R/RW discs recorded on
other devices even if they have not been finalize(].
After finalizing (For DVD-R/RW (Video mode) discs)
• Video and audio that have been re_-orded by then are re_-orded
in conformity to the DVD Video standard, enabling you to
play back the discs as DVD VIDEO discs. (L_" pg. 8, "Discs for
Playback Only")
• Although DVD-R/RW discs finalized on this unit become
playable on DVD [)layers compatible with DVD-R/RW discs,
some discs still may not [)lay, for which IVC cannot take
responsibility.
• Marked points m a rked before fi nalizi ng will be deleted, and
programs will be divided automatically into "chapters"
approximately every 5 minutes. (z_" pg. 38, "Marking
positions to [)lay again later")
• Depending on the DVD players and DVD-R/RW discs used,
and on the conditions of recording, it may not be possible to
play back the discs. In this case, play back the discs on this
unit.
• Additional recordings become impossible.
Finalize a DVD-R/RW disc
Perform steps [] to [] of "Format a DVD-RAM disc"
(L_ :" pg. 101) before continuing.
Finalizethe disc.
[] Press/'\V to select "FINAI.IZE', then press ENTER.
Press < b" to select "YES", then press ENTEr when
"DISC WElL BE FINAl IZED" appears on the TV
screen.
[] Press _ b" to select "OK", then press ENTER when
"FINALIZING WILL MAKE D[SC READ-ONLY"
appears on the TV screen.
I_1 Returnto the normalscreen.
Press SET UP.
• Menu screen is cleared.
• Once a DVD-R/RW (Video mode) disc has been finalized, the
displays for original an(J play list do not appear. Only display
for library appears.
• Once a DVD-RW (VR mode) disc has been finalize(], it can be
played on DVD players compatible with VR mode.
Cancel thefinalizationof a DVD-RW
disc
Load a DVD-RW disc to cancel the disc finalization, and]
perform steps [] to [] of "Format a DVD-RAM disc"
(z_" pg. 101) before continuing.
Cancel t he discfinalization.
[] Press/'\_ to select "CANCEl [DISC FINALIZATION",
then press ENTER.
[] Press _ _ to select "OK", then press ENTER when
"CANCEl DISC FINALIZATION" appears on the TV
screen.
I_1 Returnto the normalscreen.
Press SET UP.
• When the disc finalization is cancelled, the mode in which the
disc was formatted is restored, making the disc recordable.
