• Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem is
solved.
• See Chapter 7 "Parts listing, ThinkServer RD220 Type 3729, 3779, 3797, and 3798" on page 205 to determine
which components are customer replaceable units (CRU) and which components are field replaceable
units (FRU).
• If an action step is preceded by "(Trained service technician only)," that step must be performed only by
a trained service technician.

1. Install the minimum memory
configuration for the system (see
Removing a memory module (DIMM)
and "Installing a DIMM" on page 169).
To determine the minimum memory
configuration for your system, see
"Features and technologies" on page 13.
2. Reconnect the system to the power
source and turn on the system.
3. Make sure that the reported memory size
is the same as the installed memory size.
4. Run the test again. If the memory passes
the test, one of the uninstalled DIMMs is
the failing component.
5. Repeat the steps to remove all DIMMs
as necessary, using different DIMMs to
isolate the failing component. Change
only one component each time to identify
the specific cause of the error.
6. Replace the failing DIMM.
