CAUTION:
When replacing the lithium battery, use only battery recommended by the manufacturer. If your
system has a module containing a lithium battery, replace it only with the same module type made by
the same manufacturer. The battery contains lithium and can explode if not properly used, handled, or
disposed of. Do not:
• Throw or immerse into water
• Heat to more than 100°C (212°F)
• Repair or disassemble
Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
See the Important Notices and Safety Information document on the ThinkServer Documentation DVD for
more information.
To install the replacement battery, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Follow any special handling and installation instructions that come with the replacement battery.
Step 2.
Insert the new battery:
a.
Hold the battery in a vertical orientation so that the smaller side is facing the housing.
b.
Place the battery into its socket, and press the battery toward the housing and the PCI riser
2 until it snaps into place.
Step 3.
Reinstall any adapters that you removed.
Step 4.
Reconnect the internal cables that you disconnected (see Internal cable routing and connectors).
Step 5.
Install the cover (see Completing the installation).
Step 6.
Slide the server into the rack.
Step 7.
Reconnect the external cables; then, reconnect the power cords and turn on the peripheral devices
and the server.
Note: You must wait approximately 20 seconds after you connect the power cord of the server to
an electrical outlet before the power-control button becomes active.
Step 8.
Start the Setup utility and reset the configuration.
• Set the system date and time.
• Set the power-on password.
• Reconfigure the server.
