v Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem
is solved.
v See Chapter 4, "Parts listing, System x3655, Type 7985," on page 97 to determine which components are
customer replaceable units (CRU) and which components are field replaceable units (FRU).
v If an action step is preceded by "(Trained service technician only)," that step must be performed only by a
trained service technician.

Action
1. Make sure that the connector on the fan is not damaged.
2. Make sure that the fan connector on the system board is not
damaged.
3. Make sure that the fan is fully installed (press down on the
fan).

b. Reinstall the components you removed, one at a time,
restarting the server each time.
c. If the error recurs, the component you just reinstalled is
defective; replace the defective component.
2. Reseat the following components:
a. Power supply n
b. Power backplane
3. Replace the components listed in step 2, one at a time, in the
order shown, restarting the server each time.
1. Make sure that the power cords are correctly connected to the
server and to a working electrical outlet.
2. Replace power supply n.
3. Replace the power backplane.
