10 Setup for Novell Networks
In the Detailed View (from the Quick Setup page), you can switch
off all access to the server through other protocols for which you do
not set up access restrictions.
You can disable Microsoft networking (SMB) access by using the
Windows (SMB) tab and disabling the NetBIOS Protocol Bindings
for both NetBEUI and TCP/IP. You can disable UNIX access under
the UNIX tab using the Enable NFS setting.
Do not disable Web (HTTP) access. Maintain administrative
access to the server using this web interface.
If you should ever need to disable NetWare access to the server, use
the NetWare tab and the Enable NetWare setting.
You must restart the server to effect Detailed View settings.
On the Quick Setup web page, you can select the wizard for
NetWare (NCP) to change the NetWare Server Name. The default
is HP hhhhhh _NW, where hhhhhh are the last six digits of the
server's LAN hardware (MAC) address. (Clicking the wizard's
Finish button causes the server to restart for the settings to
take effect.)
If the server is used as an NDS-compatible server, you may store
the access rights in the NDS tree, or you may store the access rights
in a file on a Novell file server. HP recommends the first option,
storing them in the tree.
If this is the first HP SureStore CD-ROM or CD/DVD-ROM server
being installed in your NDS tree, the server will try to extend the
NDS Schema with a new attribute to the "NCP server" class. This
new attribute will not affect the operation of your NetWare servers.
This schema extension has been approved by Novell.
For this first server, you must use the account of the Admin object
that has supervisor rights to the root object of the NDS tree. This
means that the account specified in the NDS setup (see page 5-11)
must have supervisor access rights to that root object.
Once this first server has been successfully installed, the schema is
extended. In future installations of other HP CD-ROM or
CD/DVD-ROM servers into this tree, as well as any re-installation
of this server, you can use the account of the Admin object for the
tree in which the server will reside.
