Setting Up NDS Time Synchronization
If you are using NetWare NDS, you can set automatic time
synchronization from a NetWare Time Server. On the Date and
Time page, make sure the Time Zone is correctly set. Select
Automatically and Novell Directory Services.
•
NDS time synchronization is normally obtained using the SAP
method.
•
Alternatively, if you have a Time Provider Group on your
system you can provide a list of servers for the server to contact
to obtain its time synchronization. The list can also contain
Secondary Time Servers. For this alternative, on the NetWare
configuration page (select Quick Setup and Detailed View),
select List of Servers under Time Source, and list the server
names (separated by commas) to be contacted for time
synchronization.
As an alternative to NDS Time Synchronization, you can use the
Network Time Protocol (NTP, as defined by RFC 1769) if TCP/IP is
running. (See page 3-13.)
If HTTP (providing web access) remains enabled, it is important
that you change the server password to protect the system files.
Under the Administration tab, click the This Server button and
with the server module highlighted, click the Settings button. On
the resulting page, select the General tab. Change and confirm the
password. Click Save. This new password takes effect without
restarting the server.
