8 Setup for Novell Networks
8. Select a drive letter in the Drives listing and then:
•
For root access to everything, select HP hhhhhh _NW_SYS in
the Resources list.
•
For access to all discs with one drive letter, select the
VOLUMES folder in the Resources list.
•
For individual disc access, select the specific disc folder
name (inside the volumes folder) in the Resources list.
If you are using bindery mode, the discs will appear at the
same level as the SYS volume.
9. Click Map to map the server to the selected drive letter.
10. Click Permanent if you wish to use the server as the same drive
letter the next time you start your computer.
11. Click the Exit button on the toolbar. The server is ready for use.
The server is mounted using the map command.
1. On a NetWare file server, at the DOS prompt enter the
following:
map root < drive-letter> :=HP hhhhhh _NW/ <path>
hhhhhh are the last six digits of your server's LAN hardware
(MAC) address. In the examples below, the full LAN hardware
address assumed is 0060B0CD000B.
<path> is the path of the folder that provides your selected
access point on the server.
Example of root access:
map root E:=HP cd000b_NW/SYS:
Example of VOLUMES folder access:
map root F:=HP cd000b_NW/SYS:/VOLUMES
Example of disc volume access:
map root G:=HP cd000b_NW/SYS:/VOLUMES/cd_18881
2. To make the connection permanent, edit your autoexec.bat file
to include your map command.
