4 Caching and Archiving Using the Hard Disk
An archived disc remains user-accessible until you remove the
archive. Three methods are the following:
On the Administration web page, click Discs and Drives, select
the "Discs and file system" view, and under Archive click the
checkmark off for an individual disc. This removes the archive
copy of the corresponding disc.
On the Administration web page, click Discs and Drives, select
the "Discs and file system" view, and click the Unarchive All
button. This removes the archive copies of all the discs listed on
the server.
On the Administration web page, click the This Server button
and with the server module highlighted, click the Settings
button. Then select the Caching and Archiving tab. Click the
"Clear Disk" button to do a "quick format" of the hard disk to
remove all cache and archive copies. Automatic caching and
archiving of the discs currently installed on the server will be
restarted, according to the current configuration.
Auto-archiving for every drive and automatic ejection after
archiving are factory defaults, except that by default discs larger
than 650 Megabytes will not be automatically archived or mirrored.
The cache mode has no impact on archiving (see "Cache Modes" on
page 8-2 and "Disk Space for Caching and Archiving" on page 8-6).
