Using the Recessed Push Button
1. Switch off the server tower (using the switch on the front).
2. On the back of the tower, next to the network connector, a push
button is recessed behind a small hole. Insert a narrow
implement, such as a paper clip, into the hole to push and hold the
button while you switch on power to the tower (using the switch
on the front). Continue to press the button until the Status LED
flashes red at regular intervals. This will take ten to fifteen
seconds.
3. Release the button.
4. Restart the server by switching the server off, waiting 10 seconds,
and then switching on the power again.
For help in solving problems with the firmware, consult
appendix A, "Getting Support", for HP's Web site containing more
problem-solving tips and for HP support telephone numbers.
If you suspect your server hardware is faulty, the fault must be
isolated to one of the components that can be replaced by
Hewlett-Packard Company:
•
An HP CD-ROM drive for HP towers
•
The server module
•
The tower, that is, all the other hardware components
For replacement keys and cords, see page 2-2.
The previous sections of this "Troubleshooting" chapter can help
you isolate the problem to hardware. Call HP telephone support for
help in definitively isolating the fault, and to order the replacement
for a component determined to be faulty. To perform the
replacement, proceed with replacement procedures in the following
section.
