If the volume required for dispensing is less than the maximum volume of the bellow pump (approx. 10 cc),
a fraction of a dispensing stroke (compression of the bellow pump) is sufficient to dispense the requested
amount.
If the volume requested for dispensing is greater than the maximum volume of the bellow pump, it will be
necessary to:
carry out a complete dispensing stroke (compression of the pump)
–
carry out a complete intake stroke (expansion of the pump)
–
repeat the two points described above until the remaining amount to be dispensed is less than the
–
maximum volume of the bellow pump
carry out the last fraction of a dispensing stroke to complete dispensing of the requested amount
–
At the end of the last stroke (or fraction of a stroke) in dispensing, the bellow pump is activated for intake
until it reaches its resting position (starting position).
The circuits with 5-liter canisters may be fitted with two pumping units. The pumping units operate
simultaneously but in an alternate pattern, so as to reach a flow rate of 0.4 liters/min.
2.4 Check Valve
Each pumping unit is equipped with an external
check valve (9 - Figure 2) also called FEDV.
The FEDV is an unidirectional valve and its purpose
is to filter the colorant and reduce possible
dripping problems, caused by the product
contained in the circuit.
This external check valve can be defined as an
additional delivery valve, since it has the same
technical characteristics of the delivery valve
contained in the valve group (B -Figure 5). These
two valves are passively activated together, by the
pump operation.
The external check valve can be easily replaced,
thus offering the advantage to avoid the
replacement of the entire SAPS, in case of colorant
dripping problems.
The check valve can be equipped with filters of
different size and type, suitable for the product to
be pumped.
