2.2 Canisters

(Figure 2)
The canisters (1) are of different capacities and are suitable for containing the product to be dispensed.
The canister is equipped with one stirrer with slanted blades (2), powered by one d.c. motor (3) attached
beneath the canister itself. The 5-liter canisters contain two stirrers controlled simultaneously.
According to the type of canister, one or two filters (4) are present, that serve to trap any impurities that
may be present in the product.
Inside each canister is also present one valve group (5) passively activated by the pump operation.

2.2.1 Automatic timed stirring

The stirring process consists of activating the stirrers located inside the canisters, one after another,
beginning with the one inside the first canister; the stirring process (cycle) ends when the last canister has
been stirred.
The stirring time and interval between cycles may be set using the CorobTECH program based on the
physical nature of the products in the canisters.

2.3 Pumping unit

Figure 5
The colorant contained in the canister is dispensed by means of one or more subsequent strokes carried out
by the pump carriage, and thus the corresponding expansion and compression of the bellow pump. The
carriage, and thus the bellow pump, is driven by the stepper motor.
The bellow pump is initially at the end of the intake stroke, and is therefore full of colorant taken from the
canister.
Version 1.0 - rev0 - May 2006
The pumping unit is made up of a bellow pump (C - Figure 5) of
known volume. The pump expands and contracts based on its shape
and the action of a stepper motor (D - Figure 5), present for each
circuit.
The control electronics ensure that the pump is working properly.
During expansion, colorant is drawn from the canister into the pump
chamber through the suction valve (A - Figure 5) (intake stage).
During contraction, colorant is discharged from the pump chamber
through the delivery valve (B - Figure 5) to the dispensing pipe (8 -
Figure 2) and the check valve (9 - Figure 2) towards the nozzles (10 -
Figure 2) (dispensing stage).
A plastic fin (E - Figure 5) is mounted on the carriage of the pumping
unit, which engages the optic switch mounted on the SAPS board,
when the pump is in the reset position.
