If your Þle doesnÕt print
Control-D characters
The utility Þles on the Printer Utilities diskette for PC/DOS, all begin and
end with Control-D characters. Also, Windows automatically puts
Control-D characters at the beginning and end of each print job. If your
computer or workstation is connected to the printer through a parallel or
serial port, you need to leave these characters in the Þles. However, if your
computer or workstation is connected to an Ethernet network such as
NetWare or TCP/IP, you should delete the Control-D characters from each
utility Þle (or Windows print job) you plan to use. Refer to Chapter 4,
ÒPrinting From a Workstation,Ó or Chapter 8, ÒModifying Printer
Operation,Ó for instructions on adding and deleting Control-D characters
from utility Þles or Windows print jobs.
Language mode
If your Þle doesnÕt print, the language on the printerÕs port you are using
may have been changed. First, print a copy of the printerÕs conÞguration
page to see the language mode on each port. To print a conÞguration page,
place Switches 2, 3, and 4 on the printerÕs rear panel in the down position.
Then put Switch 4 up. After the conÞguration page prints, place Switch 4
down.
If the printer port you are using has the wrong language set for the type of
application you are using, send one of the following utility Þles to the
printer.
If you want to print PostScript Þles, use the PSCRIPT.PS Þle to set
up a port to receive PostScript.
If you want to print HP-GL Þles, use the HPGL.PS Þle to set up a
port to receive HP-GL.
If you want to print PCL5 Þles, use the AIS.PS Þle to set up a port
for automatic language selection.
