After connecting the expansion shelf, continue with step 5 if you are not connecting an additional shelf.
3. (Optional) Connect a second expansion shelf.
a) Connect the SAS Out port P2 of controller A on the array to the SAS In port of expander A on expansion shelf 2.
b) Connect the SAS Out port P2 of controller B on the array to the SAS In port of expander B on expansion shelf 2.
4. (Optional) Connect additional shelves as needed.
Note:
For HPE Alletra 5010, 5010H: Do not cable more than two expansion shelves per side. HPE Alletra 5010 and
5010H models support up to four shelves.
For HPE Alletra 5030, 5050 and HPE Nimble Storage HFxx: Do not cable more than three expansion shelves
per side. These models support up to six shelves.
a) Connect the SAS Out port of expander A on the expansion shelf to the SAS In port of expander A on the next expansion
shelf in the chain.
b) Connect the SAS Out port of expander B on the expansion shelf to the SAS In port of expander B on the next shelf in
the chain.
