Shut Down an Expansion Shelf

For most hardware changes you do not need to shut down (power off) the expansion shelf because the components are
redundant and hot swappable.
Before you begin
CAUTION:
To prevent your volumes from going offline, shut down the array that manages the expansion shelf first. Then shut
down the expansion shelf. See Shut Down the Array Using the GUI on page 53.
Procedure
To shut down the expansion shelf, press and hold the Power button on the shelf for 4 seconds.

Status
Solid red indicates that the drive carrier itself has failed. Con-
tact HPE Support to send a replacement drive carrier. The
replacement drive carrier will come preinstalled with a new
interposer and slots.
Solid red indicates that a drive (A or B) has failed or been re-
moved
Solid green indicates that the drive (A or B) is online and
ready
Blinking green twice per second indicates that the drive
is being initialized
Blinking green five times per second indicates read/write
activity on the drive
