HPE recommends using the Maintenance Window functionality within the HPE InfoSight portal to inform HPE Support of
upcoming maintenance windows.

You can disable automated support case generation during planned maintenance from the Manage Maintenance Windows
page. After a maintenance window is set, no further communication with HPE Support is required.
Note:
If one controller fails, the other controller takes over. The array can function with one healthy controller while the
new one is installed.
The upgrade kit for HPE Alletra 5010 models and Nimble Storage AF20 and HF20 models includes new PCIe
cages. Before installing the new controller, you must move the PCIe cards from the existing PCIe cage to the new
PCIe cage and install the new PCIe cage in the new controller.
Replace the array controller if any of its components have failed. If replacing a controller, see Replace a Controller
on page 82.
If upgrading NICs or FC HBAs, see Upgrade PCIe Cards on page 115.
CAUTION:
Before you attempt to install the controller:
For HPE Alletra 5010H upgrades, ensure that the array is updated to OS version 6.1.2.0 or later.
For other HPE Alletra 5000 upgrades, ensure the array is updated to OS version 6.1.0.0 or later.
For HPE Nimble Storage arrays, if you are upgrading to an HF60 model, you must update to OS version 6.0.0.500
or later before performing the controller upgrade.
For other HPE Nimble Storage upgrades, ensure that the array is updated to OS version 5.0.5 or later.
Do not remove the existing controller until you are ready to install the upgrade.
Determine which controller to upgrade before installation.

HPE Alletra 5030H
Upgrade to Alletra 5030H requires the Alletra 5010H to be fully popu-
lated with drives first.
HPE Nimble Storage HF40, HF60
HPE Nimble Storage HF40C, HF60C
Upgrade to HF60C requires all six SSD cache slots to be populated with
drives first.
HPE Nimble Storage HF40H
Upgrade to HF40H requires the HF20H to be fully populated with drives
first.
