Measuring Power or Loss
Setting Pass/Fail Thresholds
Setting Pass/Fail Thresholds
You can define thresholds to specify acceptable power (dBm) or loss (dB)
values for each wavelength. Thresholds are often supplied by system
manufacturers and depend on the system deployed.
When a threshold is activated, the PASS/FAIL LED is turned on. If it is green,
the threshold is within the acceptable values and if the PASS/FAIL LED is
red, it is not.
You can set thresholds for different job types:
Basic power meter: allows you to define a pass/fail threshold
according to your needs. It can be a maximum loss level or a minimum
power level.
Network standard: allows you to define a specific loss level in dB and
a maximum cable length. The dB value is not proportional and will
remain the same regardless of the fiber length.
Cabling standard: allows you to define a proportional loss budget
calculated according to the fiber attenuation loss, connector loss, and
splice loss.
Corning Plug & Play: allows you to define a proportional loss budget
calculated according to the harness and module loss.
To set the pass/fail thresholds for Basic power meter:
1. Press
and then Configuration.
2. Select the Thresholds tab.
3. Using the up/down arrows, select
Threshold type, and press
4. Select Basic power meter and
press
5. Enter the threshold parameters for
each wavelength.
