Securely removing data

Before disposing of components of the SIMATIC Drive Controller, you should securely delete
all data from the storage media of these components.
NOTICE
Data misuse resulting from non-secure deletion of data
Incomplete or non-secure deletion of data from data memories can result in data misuse by
third parties.
For this reason, ensure secure deletion of data from all storage media before disposing of
the product.
To remove all the data from the data memories of the SIMATIC Drive Controller, first reset the
SINAMICS Integrated and then the CPU (PLC) to the factory settings. For this purpose, use the
"Factory reset" function, which will reset the SINAMICS Integrated or the CPU (PLC), as the
case may be, to the delivery state. The function deletes all information that was stored
internally.
Deleting data
For secure deletion of data from the SIMATIC Drive Controller and the SIMATIC Memory Card,
follow these steps in the order given:
1. Establish an online connection to the CPU (PLC) and to the SINAMICS Integrated.
2. Open the online and diagnostics view of SINAMICS Integrated from the project context.
3. In the dialog box, select "Backup/Restore > Reset to factory settings" and then the "Start"
button. Click "OK" in response to the confirmation prompt.
4. Open the online and diagnostics view of CPU (PLC) from the project context.
