  • Page 16 1. MOUNTING 1.3.2 Transom mount transducer The optional transom mount transducer is very commonly employed, usually on rela- tively small I/O or outboard boats.   • Page 17 1. MOUNTING 1.3.3 How to mount a Thru-hull transducer inside the hull The thru-hull mount transducer may also be installed inside the hull on FRP boats. However, this installation method affects the ability to detect the bottom, fish and other objects because the ultrasound pulse is weakened when it passes through the hull.

Decide the most suitable site from the selected locations by doing the following: 1) Refer to section 2.1 for connecting the power cable and transducer cable to the main unit. 2) Put the transducer into a water-filled plastic bag. Press the transducer against the chosen site.

MOUNTING NOTICE Do not mount the sensor in an area of turbulence or bubbles: - near water intake or discharge openings - behind strakes, struts, fittings, or hull irregularities - behind eroding paint (an indication of turbulence). Avoid mounting the sensor where the boat may be supported during trailering, launching, hauling, and storage.

Note 1: Satellite Compass™ connection is required to use the heaving correction function. If no hull motion information is input from the Satellite Compass™, the heave sensor compensation function cannot be used.
