Using cruise control on hills
When going up a steep hill, you may have to depress the accelerator pedal to maintain
your speed. When going downhill, you may have to brake or shift to a lower gear to
decrease the vehicle's speed. Applying the brakes disengages the cruise control.
Switching off the cruise control
There are several ways to switch off the cruise control:
Depress the brake pedal or clutch pedal (manual transmission) or press the cancel
button.
Press the ON/OFF button on the cruise control pad.
Note When the cruise control or the ignition is switched to the LOCK position, the
cruise control set speed memory is erased.
WARNING
Do not use the cruise control when road or driving conditions require varying
speeds, A consistent speed isn't practical in heavy or varying traffic, or on
winding, slippery or rough roads.
The cruise control does not apply the vehicle's brakes. Therefore the vehicle
may gain speed when going down steep hills.
When climbing steep hills (particularly when towing) it is possible for the
vehicle to lose speed. You may need to switch off the cruise control and use
the accelerator pedal.
