Using cruise control on hills
When going up a steep hill, you may have to depress the accelerator pedal to maintain
your speed. When going downhill, you may have to brake or shift to a lower gear to
decrease the vehicle's speed. Applying the brakes disengages the cruise control.
Switching off the cruise control
There are several ways to switch off the cruise control:
• Depress the brake pedal or clutch pedal (manual transmission) or press the cancel
button.
• Press the ON/OFF button on the cruise control pad.
Note When the cruise control or the ignition is switched to the LOCK position, the
cruise control set speed memory is erased.
WARNING
• Do not use the cruise control when road or driving conditions require varying
speeds, A consistent speed isn't practical in heavy or varying traffic, or on
winding, slippery or rough roads.
• The cruise control does not apply the vehicle's brakes. Therefore the vehicle
may gain speed when going down steep hills.
• When climbing steep hills (particularly when towing) it is possible for the
vehicle to lose speed. You may need to switch off the cruise control and use
the accelerator pedal.
