Chapter 3
KNOW YOUR VEHICLE
Rear seat belts
To put on the seat belt, pull the shoulder portion of the seat belt down until the metal
tongue reaches the buckle. Press the metal tongue into the buckle until it clicks
into position.
To release the seat belt, press the release button on the buckle.
WARNING
The tongue must engage and lock inside the buckle for the seat belt to
function properly.
Seat belt pretensioners
The front seat belt system incorporates seat belt pretensioners. Seat belt pretensioners
are part of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and operate in conjunction with
airbags. In the event of a severe frontal collision the belt buckles and retractors are
pulled downward, tightening both the diagonal and lap sections of the seat belt.
If the belt pretensioners have been activated, the v warning lamp on the instrument
panel will not go out after the usual few seconds. This is designed to remind you the
pretensioner system has been used and therefore needs to be replaced by your Holden
Dealer. The seat belts would remain operational, apart from this safety feature.
If the SRS lamp illuminates at any other time, or if the v warning lamp illuminates
on the instrument panel, see your Holden Dealer immediately to have the system
checked. Refer to Warning/reminder indications in chapter 1A, for further information
about warning lamps and reminder indicators.
The driver and all passengers should be properly restrained at all times with the seat
belts provided in the vehicle. Failure to do so could increase the risk of injury and/or
the severity of injury in accidents.
Seat belt use during pregnancy
Seat belts work for everyone, including
pregnant women. Like all occupants, they
are more likely to be seriously injured if
they do not wear seat belts. A pregnant
woman should wear a lap/shoulder belt,
and the lap portion should be worn as low
as possible throughout the pregnancy.
