Symptom
Measured value is higher than
expected
Measured values are decreasing
during the use of the pyrometer
(without use of an air purge
accessory)
57010228-00C
Target object is not always in the measuring spot of the
pyrometer
• Use maximum value storage and clear time intervals
to apply settings for automatically adjusting the
temperature readings based on the stored maximum
value. For more information, see
Interval for the Maximum Value Storage"
page 3‑19.
Emissivity is set too high
• Set a lower emissivity value that corresponds to the
material of the target object. For more information,
see
"Emissivity"
Dirty lens
• Carefully clean the lens with isopropyl alcohol
using cotton swabs or wipes, or standard cloths for
cleaning glasses or photo lenses. Do not use acid
solutions or dilutions.
• If cleaning the lens does not solve the problem, use
an air purge accessory.
Emissivity is set too low
• Set a higher emissivity value that corresponds to the
material of the target object. For more information,
see
"Emissivity"
Measurement is being influenced by reflections from
surrounding surfaces, such as hot machine parts
• Install something near the pyrometer, such as a
mechanical shield, to block any reflections and avoid
the influence of the interfering radiation.
• In some cases, you might be able to use the Infra600
software to compensate for ambient temperature.
However, this is often error-prone. Refer to the
Infra600 software manual for more information.
The lens is contaminated
• Carefully clean the lens with isopropyl alcohol
using cotton swabs or wipes, or standard cloths for
cleaning glasses or photo lenses. Do not use acid
solutions or dilutions.
