TO CONNECT INPUT POWER TO THE UNIT
1. Connect input power to the converter box or analog box in one of the following
ways.
◦ Connect the converter box or analog box to a power supply using the
provided cable, ensuring correct polarity.
◦ Connect the converter box or analog box to a PC using a micro USB cable.
 Important
2. To switch off the pyrometer, interrupt the power supply.

Connecting Serial Communications

Once the Impac pyrometer is connected to a power supply, use the digital interface
to connect the pyrometer to a PC for setting the parameters and processing the
temperature measurements.
Depending on the configuration, your pyrometer will be equipped with either one
analog output only, or multiple analog outputs only, or with one digital output and
one analog output. Both digital output and analog output can be used at the same
time.

BAUD RATE

The baud rate of the digital interface is dependent on the length of the interface cable,
and can be changed using the Infra600 software, Universal Pyrometer Protocol (UPP)
commands, or a converter box with a display. In general, the longer the cable, the
lower the baud rate that is needed.
 Important
If the baud rate is not set correctly for the cable, there will be problems with
the transmission. The Infra600 software contains a general test function to
estimate the reliability of the transmission with the selected baud rate.
Valid baud rates are as follows:
• 4800 baud
• 9600 baud
• 19200 baud
• 38400 baud
• 115200 baud
57010228-00C
To avoid ground loops, ensure that the shield of the cable is open and
does not connect to either the power supply or to a switchboard.
