Peripheral Card Connections

For information on pin assignments for all I/O cable connections to the Coral Peripheral Cards,
refer to Chapter 5, External Connections in the Installation manual of the relevant Coral system
for the corresponding tables for the appropriate Coral Peripheral Card (8/16SKD, 8/16/24SDT,
8/16/24SFT, 8/16SFTipx, 8/16SFTsl and 8F8Ssl).
.
CPA terminals cannot be used as power failure stations. The CPA will be ruined by incoming ring voltage on
a PF trunk.

Line Distances

CPA terminals are designed to operate over line distances (see below) using internal power,
supplied by the Coral station circuit. In order to extend the cable loop limit, the CPA can be
powered by an external power source connected to the CPA. Power adapters are explained in
External Power Supply on page 8-1. Maximum Line Lengths depend on the gauge wire used to
connect the Coral to the CPA terminal.
When using the internal power supply (supplied by the peripheral card and powered over the
LAN), a simple rule of thumb for any gauge wire is that the maximum DC resistance of the
loop be 200 Ohms or less.
Maximum line lengths from 8/16SKD, 8/16/24SDT, 8/16/24SFT, 8/16SFTipx, 8/16SFTsl,
8F8Ssl peripheral cards to the CPA are listed in Table 10-1.
