Disabling the External Cache Batteries (ECBs)

Use the following steps to disable the ECBs.
NOTE: An ECB might contain one or two batteries, depending on the configuration (single ECB
or dual ECB).
1. Press and hold the battery disable switch (labeled SHUT OFF, see Figure 3–2) on
the ECB for approximately 5 seconds.

2. Repeat step 1 for all ECBs in the subsystem.
NOTE: The batteries are no longer protecting the cache module memory.
