JUMPERS AND SWITCHES

5.2.1. DIP Switch Functions

The main circuit board contains an 8 position DIP switch (S1) that invokes setup and diagnostic
functions. Most users will have no need to alter the factory switch settings. The functions of each switch
are described below.

5.2.2. Configuring the Serial Port

The Serial port can be configured for various pinouts, as described in Chapter 2. During manufacture,
the serial port is configured for RS-232 DCE.
To reconfigure the serial port it is necessary to unplug the SDI Time Code Master and remove the top
cover. Figure 5-1 shows the settings of jumper block J9 on the main circuit board for the various
configurations available. The pinouts corresponding to RS-232 DCE and RS-422 tributary
configurations are given in Chapter 2. It is impossible to tell whether the serial port pinout has been
altered without opening the unit for inspection.
