Setting up the Internet network

(SmartLAN)
The SmartLAN board has a Web application (Janus Network Gateway) that operates as a virtual
control panel. The console (keypad, display and LEDs) allows operators (e.g. Maintenance
technicians) to connect to the control panel via any Internet browser, view the control panel and work
on the system. This virtual control panel allows operators to carry out software maintenance work
from remote locations.
Besides operating as the Janus Network Gateway, the SmartLAN board also has the task of
transmitting e-mails and event reports to the specified websites (for example, monitoring stations or
other web applications) generated by the actions defined during the programming phase of the
SmartLoop/PSTN board (refer to paragraph 22.2 Setting up the telephone actions).
