4. Connect the other end of the cable to an RS-232 port on a terminal or
PC with a terminal emulator program.
5. Configure the terminal or terminal emulator program as follows:
Baud rate: 9600 bps (The baud rate of the Console Port is
adjustable from 1200 to 115200 bps. The default is 9600 bps.)
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: None
Note
The port settings are for a DEC VT100 or ANSI terminal, or an
equivalent terminal emulator program.
6. Press Enter.
You are prompted for a user name and password.
7. If this is the initial management session of the switch, enter "manager"
as the user name and "friend" as the password. The user name and
password are case sensitive.
The local management session starts when the User Exec mode
prompt, shown in Figure 74. is displayed.
