Rear Shock Installation

REAR SHOCK INSTALLATION
1.
Installation is the reverse of removal.
2.
Tighten the upper hardware, using a new lock nut, and lower bolt to 70 ft-lb (95 N·m).
3.
Place bed locking pin in the stowed position and lower the cargo bed. See Cargo Bed, Section 4, Page 4-20.
4.
Install wheel and lower vehicle. See Wheel Installation, Section 8, Page 8-2.
5.
Connect battery and spark plug wire(s). See Connecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles on page 1-4.

LATERAL LINK REMOVAL

1.
Disconnect battery and spark plug wire(s). See Disconnecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles on page 1-4.
2.
Lift and support the rear of vehicle and remove the wheel. See Lifting The Vehicle, Section 3, Page 3-4.
3.
Remove the hardware securing the lateral link to the chassis.
4.
Remove the hardware securing the lateral link to the trailing arm (Figure 9-4, Page 9-2) and (Figure 9-5,
Page 9-2).

LATERAL LINK INSTALLATION

1.
Installation is the reverse of removal. See following NOTE.
NOTE: The beveled spacer and 1 1/2 inch (38.6 mm) long sleeve must be installed as they were before disassembly
(Figure 9-6, Page 9-3). This only applies where the rear lateral links attach to the chassis.
2.
Tighten hardware at each end of link to 30 ft-lb (41 N·m).
3.
Install wheel and lower vehicle. See Wheel Installation, Section 8, Page 8-2.
4.
Connect battery and spark plug wire(s). See Connecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles on page 1-4.
