2. Carefully insert the flared end of the brake hose into the master cylinder and tighten the fitting to 146 in-lb (16.5
N·m) (Figure 6-4, Page 6-8).
3. Secure the front tee and clamps to the chassis and tighten the bolts to 84 in-lb (9.5 N·m) (Figure 6-6, Page 6-8).
4. At the original locations, secure the brake hose assembly to the steering knuckles with new wire ties (6).
5. Connect brake hoses to each caliper with new copper washers and banjo bolts (Figure 6-5, Page 6-8). Tighten
bolts to 146 in-lb (16.5 N·m). See following CAUTION.
CAUTION
• The banjo bolts are metric. Use only metric thread replacements.
6. Fill the reservoir of the master cylinder and bleed the hydraulic system. See Bleeding the Hydraulic Brake
System on page 6-16. See following WARNING.
WARNING
• Use the top bleeding port on each caliper to bleed that respective front wheel.
• Ensure hydraulic hoses cannot contact any moving parts that will cause wear and damage.
7. Perform all of the brake system inspections. See Brake System Inspection on page 6-4. See preceding
WARNING.
Rear Brake Hose Removal
NOTE: If any portion of the brake hose is damaged, the entire hose assembly must be replaced.
1. Lift and support the rear of vehicle and remove the wheel. See Lifting The Vehicle, Section 3, Page 3-4.
2. Use a flare-nut wrench to disconnect the rear brake hose at the master cylinder (Figure 6-8, Page 6-10). See
following NOTE.
NOTE: Place a plastic bag around the master cylinder to catch brake fluid before the brake line is removed. Wrap the
bag around the master cylinder to prevent debris from entering the brake line port.
3. Remove the banjo bolt, copper washers and rear brake hose from each rear caliper assembly (Figure 6-9, Page
6-10). Discard the copper washers. See following NOTE.
NOTE: Place a pan under each rear caliper assembly to collect the brake fluid.
Place a plastic bag around each caliper to prevent debris from entering the brake line ports. Do not allow
brake fluid to contact the brake pads and disc.
