G.3.2
Hybrid Combiner Control
The control and monitor of Hybrid Combiner is through the serial
interface J1. A special serial command from master M&C
controller to either operating amplifier in Manual mode will cause
the waveguide switches to toggle into one of these operational
states:
There is also a set of serial commands that can be used to control
the waveguide switches individually. The hybrid combiner can be
set to either manual mode or automatic mode via a set of serial
commands in the Combined to Antenna operation. The amplifier
must be in a no fault condition to accept the Auto mode
command.
In Auto mode, the Combined to Antenna mode will be revert to
Single PA Online mode if either PA becomes faulty.
The amplifier must be in Manual mode to accept any serial
command to change the operational state.
Figure G-4 and Figure G-5 show the four hybrid combiner states
in relation to the serial commands and auto/manual modes.
Appendix G-10
COMBINED TO ANTENNA: PA1 and PA2 outputs are phase-
combined and the combined output is routed to the antenna.
COMBINED TO RF LOAD: PA1 and PA2 outputs are phase-
combined and the combined output is routed to the system RF
load.
Single PA1 ONLINE: PA1 output is routed to the antenna,
