equivalent to the OK button in dialogs
equivalent to the Cancel button
switches between entry fields within dialog boxes
selects an item within list boxes
accelerator keys (underlined menu bar item characters) – 
by hitting it, a corresponding menu list is expanded directly; 
another accelerator key can subsequently be selected
switches between running applications: 
each time the Tab key is hit while holding the Alt key a pointer
jumps to another application icon. Releasing the Alt key at any time
makes the application just listed become focused
closes focused the application or the Windows operating system
deletes a selection, texts or graphics
selects all items, texts or graphics within a focused window
copies a selection to the clipboard – temporary memory
pastes the contents of the clipboard 
