    4 Optical System The optical design of the Accela RI Detector is based on Snell’s Law of Refraction, which uses a prism flowcell. The detector has a flowcell with two compartments—sample and reference—that form a pair of liquid prisms.

    Loosening the Transport Screws To prevent damage that might occur during shipment, the optical block of the Accela RI Detector is held in place by two transport screws (5 mm bolts) located underneath the detector along the right side. To use the detector, loosen the transport screws with a 5 mm hexagonal wrench, provided in the accessory kit.
