The 86038B Photonic Dispersion and Loss Analyzer (PDLA) is
designed for complete optical characterization of optical fiber
and components with optimized speed and accuracy. The
dispersion measurements are made with the industry-standard
modulation phase shift method and polarization-dependent
parameters are determined by Mueller Matrix analysis.
• Simultaneous measurement of spectral CD, GD, PMD, DGD,
PDL, and IL with a single connection and single setup to re-
duce measurement time and test uncertainty
• Fast swept-wavelength measurement of all parameters
• Selectable 6-polarization-state measurements for optimal Mu-
eller Matrix analysis
• Wide available wavelength range with options covering 1260-
1640 nm and up to 200nm sweep range with a single tunable
laser
• Specified accuracy and repeatability over wide wavelength
range
• Analysis for 2
-order PMD, GD ripple, optical phase, zero-dis-
nd
persion wavelength and CD slope
• Extremely accurate length measurement for fiber characteri-
zation
• Option available for enhanced IL and PDL accuracy
• Optional multiport measurement with integrated switching
• Drift correction provides excellent stability and accuracy
when the environmental conditions of the room or the test de-
vice are gradually changing
