Flexible Measurement Process
Prepare for Normalization Measurement
Setup and Normalization Process
Measurement Process
82
The following procedure outlines the steps to make a precisely
defined measurement. For experienced users, this process
provides more flexibility than the Quick Setup procedure.
1 Connect the patch cords needed for the normalization
between the optical ports of the PDLA (which may include
switch connections).
2 Check the connections with the Real Time Port Monitor. Refer to
"Real-Time Port Monitor" on page
1 Select port configuration if a switch is installed
2 Select Laser if more than one are installed, based on
wavelength range.
3 Choose which attributes to measure. Select stepped or swept
mode.
4 Enable the Length measurement if needed.
5 Set the measurement wavelength range.
6 Set the normalization wavelength range (if different from the
measurement range).
7 Set the wavelength increment, modulation frequency, IF
bandwidth, and Drift Correction.
8 Begin the Normalization, after selecting the port or ports for
normalization and whether to use PDA.
1 Connect the DUT.
2 Set Trigger to Single or Repeat Sweep.
3 Begin the Measurement.
4 View the data and manipulate the display and markers.
5 Smooth or curve fit the data as desired.
6 Save the measurement and/or export the data.
