10.1.1 Input
The measured variable is the distance between the reference point (see Fig on → ä 14) and the
product surface.
The level is calculated subject to the empty distance entered (E, see Fig. on → ä 102).
Alternatively, the level can be converted by means of linearization (32 points) to other variables
(volume, mass).
10.1.2 Output
• FOUNDATION Fieldbus
Error information can be accessed via the following interfaces:
• Local display:
– Error symbol (→ ä 34)
– Plain text display
• Current output, failsafe mode can be selected (e.g. according to NAMUR recommendation
NE 43).
• Digital interface
The Levelflex M linearization function enables conversion of the measured value to any desired
length or volume unit, mass or %. Linearization tables for volume calculation in cylindrical tanks are
preprogrammed. Any other tables with up to 32 value pairs can be input manually or semi-
automatically. The creation of a linearization table with the ToF Tool or FieldCare is particularly
convenient.

• Temperature = +20 °C ± 5 °C
• Pressure = 1013 mbar abs. ±20 mbar
• Relative humidity (air) = 65 % ±20%
• Metallic tank, no internals, distance to tank wall > 500 mm
• Medium: water (DK > 7), respectively oil (DK = 2)
• Probe length > 500 mm
Is in Function group "basic setup" (00) starting from → ä 58.
• Digital: 1 mm
The reaction time depends on the configuration.
Shortest time:
• 2-wire electronics: 1 s
The measurements are carried out in accordance with EN 61298-3:
• Digital output (HART, PROFIBUS PA, FOUNDATION Fieldbus):
– average T : 0.6 mm/10 K, max. ±3.5 mm over the entire temperature range -40 °C to +80 °C
