Using the Valve Unit and Valve-pump Controller
Servicing Your Valve System
Valve Selector, Pump Selector
The valve selector and pump selector decode the address lines (3 bit) from the
GP-I0 port of the spectrophotometer and give a pump or valve select signal to
the channel in question. Up to 4 channels, that is 4 valves and 4 pumps can be
addressed.

Channel 1, 2, 3, 4
Data-in lines (D0IN, D1IN, D2IN) from the GP-I0 port of the
spectrophotometer are read by the valve-pump controller. The data lines
contain either the position setpoint for the valve or the pump direction
depending on whether the valve or the pump of the respective channel is
selected. Data-out lines (D0OUT, D1OUT, D2OUT) contain position feedback
information of the valve from the channel that is addressed.
The data valid line DV(-), ready line Rdy(-) and read/write line R/W(-) are used
for handshake with the GP-I0 port of the spectrophotometer.
Power Supply
The line voltage is connected to the line filter, which also contains the line
fuse. It is fed through the line switch into the power supply which contains a
transformer, rectifier and regulation circuits. The + 5 V DC line is regulated
with a linear voltage regulator. The 24 V AC lines are used to drive the valve
motors (only one motor is driven at a time to minimize power consumption).
