9.5 Decontamination

Agents Note: The selection of the appropriate decontamination agent depends on the contamina-
tion degree and the kind of contaminant.
Decontamination can be performed with the following agents:
Bleach 0.5% to 3%

Commercially For commercially available agents that can be used for decontamination or disinfection.

Hints Concerning Decontamination
In order to remove protein residues in the tubing and tips, flush the liquid system periodi-
cally with weak acid, followed by base. Alternatively, use the above-mentioned commer-
cially available agents. Certain agents can be used as system liquids additives. They will not
affect most immunological assays.

Extracting a positioning pin
Slide the front most part of a carrier

onto the positioning pin to be re-
placed.
• Carefully lift the carrier (see arrow) to
pull out the positioning pin.
Do not use force to extract the pin. If it
does not come loose, retry with the
carrier in a slightly changed position.
