Installation and Troubleshooting Tips

Meters

Problem:
There are six LED lights on the control module circuit
board, in line with the meter connectors. These lights
are normally on and blink off momentarily when they
receive meter pulses.
D The meter circuitry can be checked by unplugging
all three meter connectors and verifying that all six
lights remain steadily on. If a light goes off when the
connector is plugged back in, the meter may be
stopped in the exact position that causes the LED
to blink off.
D The functionality of the meter electronics and
cabling can be verified by moving a strong magnet
across the surface of the meter cover and observ-
ing that the LED blinks off and back on.
NOTE: If you are uncertain about the magnet
strength, try the test on a known good meter and
control module on the workbench first.
D You can use DIAGNOSTICS to verify the operation
of the meters. This can be done before there is any
fluid in the system.
i.
If the meter is attached properly to a powered
up control module, a magnet can be moved
across the surface of the meter cover (see
previous bullet).
j.
Pulses will be generated that can be counted
in SETUP " DIAGNOSTICS " METERS
" MONITOR METERS. See page 27.
NOTE: The meter numbers under DIAGNOSTICS
refer to the ports the meters are attached to on that
control module (#7--12), not to meter numbers
assigned in the programming steps.
k. Make sure that the pulses are showing up at
the expected meter port.
D The final step in checking meters is to run fluid
through them, and verify that they count properly.
l.
Turn on all the system solenoids using switch
#8 in each control module (see previous sec-
tion on solenoids).
m. Dispense fluid from each hose drop while
watching the meter LEDs and DIAGNOSTICS
screens for pulses.
n. After each meter has been verified, change
switch #8 back to normal "on" position at each
control module.
o. Run a sample job to each dispense point.
NOTE: Configuration tables (setup) must be
loaded to run a job.

Printer

The thermal printer offered by Graco for the Horizon
system needs to be configured for proper operation.
You may have an "old style" or a "new style" printer;
they require different steps to setup. See page 17
and/or the manuals included with the printer to set it
up.
If using a different printer, it must have a serial RS--232
port; most printers sold at computer stores now have
parallel interface ports only. You will need to modify the
Graco printer cable or build a special cable as the pin
assignments on most brands of printers are different.
See page 17 for the pin assignments for the Horizon
end of the cable; the printer manual will give informa-
tion on the printer cable end.
