System Dynamics And Design Factors

There are some special factors that need to be consid-
ered when designing a fluid distribution system that will
be controlled by a Horizon system.

Pressure Relief Kit

WARNING
A Pressure Relief Kit (A) is required in
the Horizon system to reduce the risk of
serious injury, caused by splashing fluid
in the eyes or on the skin resulting from component
rupture from over-pressurization. See Fig. 20. See
page 80 to order the kit.

Ability to Dispense Fluid During System
Failure
If this is a requirement, install a bypass near the fluid
solenoid (B). If the control module that drives that fluid
solenoid fails or the power fails in that area of the shop,
the bypass can be used to keep fluid available. Fluid
cannot be dispensed if the power to the entire shop
goes down, as there will not be any power to the
pumps air compressor. If a bypass is used, records of
the jobs dispensed will not be available.
NOTE: Each control module has a DIP switch that can
be used to turn on all the solenoids connected to it.
See page 10 for more information.
Two Recommended Bypass Installations
1. See Fig. 21. This installation is a quick way of
bypassing the fluid solenoid (B), but it can be
costly if there are a number of reels to install the
bypass valve (C) on.
