BorderNet™ 500 Gateway? A BorderNet 500 Gateway is a device that processes traffic using the SIP protocol (see RFC 3261). The BorderNet 500 Gateway receives SIP requests, processes them according to the rules you have set up, and forwards them to the receiver.
With the DMZ configuration, the BorderNet 500 Gateway is located on the DMZ of your firewall and connected to it with only one network interface. The SIP traffic finds its way to the BorderNet 500 Gateway by either using DNS or setting the BorderNet 500 Gateway as an outbound proxy on the clients.
Page 11
DMZ/LAN Configuration Using this configuration, the BorderNet 500 Gateway is located on the DMZ of your firewall, and connected to it with one of the network interfaces. The other network interfaces are connected to your internal networks. The BorderNet 500 Gateway can handle several networks on the internal network interface, even if they are hidden behind routers.
Page 12
500 Gateways Installation and Configuration Guide Standalone Configuration Using this configuration, the BorderNet 500 Gateway is connected to an outside network on one network interface and your internal networks on the others. Generally, this configuration should only be used if your firewall cannot be configured to provide an appropriate DMZ.
BorderNet™ 500 Gateway WAN Configuration Using this configuration, the BorderNet 500 Gateway is connected to an outside network on one network interface and your firewall on another network interface. Only data will be sent between these two interfaces. Other network interfaces can be connected directly to your LAN, DMZ, or other networks. SIP traffic will be sent through these other interfaces.
Installing with Magic Ping You can use Magic Ping to set an IP address for the BorderNet 500 Gateway. Once you use Magic Ping to set an IP address, it can only be changed via the SIParator web interface.
