COOKING METHODS

They vary for each model.
Oven light : The oven light comes on automatically when the oven is operating. It remains on for the whole
of the cooking time. When a deferred start has been programmed, the light comes on as soon as the oven
starts up.
Model FE 5573 RU, is fitted with independent lighting. It has the same specifications as those listed below,
plus the light comes on when the door is opened.
Natural Convection : Use of both upper and lower elements, without the fan.
This function is ideal for all kinds of traditional cooking, for red meat, roast beef, joints, game, bread and
puff pastry.
A pre-heating time of around 10 minutes is recommended.
Place the dish on a shelf on the middle level.
Defroster :
FE 5563 RU : Cold defrosting. Only the fan operates.
Air at ambient temperature is circulated round the food being defrosted. This accelerates the process
without any cooking taking place.
FE 5573 RU : Temperature pre-set at a constant 40°C (no need to select a temperature on the thermostat).
This function is of interest as it allows to defrost before cooking.
Bottom element only : Use of the bottom element on its own.
Suitable for tarts, quiches, cakes, pastries and all types of cooking which require more heat and heat
radiation from underneath.
Grill : Use of the upper element only ; the temperature level can be adjusted according to the food being
cooked.
This enables good results for grilled foods, kebabs, and gratins.
5 minutes pre-heating is required until the element glows red.
Red meat and fillets of fish should be placed on the shelf in a dish which can collect the juices.
Alternatively a drip-tray can be placed on the shelf below.
White meat should be kept further away from the grill; cooking time will be longer, but the meat will be tasty.
Food which is already cooked, but to which a sauce has been added, does not require to extend the time
of cooking, except gratins.
When the grill is in use, the oven door should be kept opened.
The temperature can be regulated on all models, between 60°C and 280°C, but normally the grill is used at
maximum temperature.
Fan Oven : Use of both upper and lower elements at the same time, with a fan which circulates air round
the oven.
This function is recommended for poultry, confectionery, fish and vegetables.
The heat penetrates better into the food, reducing both cooking and pre-heating times.
Combined cooking can be done with identical or different dishes on one or two levels.
Bottom element & fan cooking : Use of the bottom element with the fan, which circulates air round the
oven.
This function is ideal for juicy fruit, pies, cakes, quiches and pastries. It prevents food from drying up and
helps cakes, pastry, bread to rise, by cooking from underneath. Place the shelf on the lowest level.
